When you describe the home-building process as “too easy”, you know you’ve had the pleasure to work with an extraordinary home building company.

Mitchell James recently completed his first new home build with Modern Builders and says the experience “couldn’t have been less stressful.”

“I recently purchased an existing home, and that process was far more stressful than building a new home with Modern Builders,” he says.

“With Modern Builders, the process was almost too easy.”

Mitchell decided to undertake a new home build on a new subdivision in Whakatane as an investment opportunity.

“I wanted a very functional home with three bedrooms, two bathrooms and a double garage,” he says.

“Kent had a couple of plans prepared that had everything I needed, so I just picked the one I preferred.”

“What I loved about Kent’s plans was the addition of a sheltered outdoor area; usually you have to have these features retrofitted.”

Mitchell says the building process was very smooth, with Kent happily making recommendations on the myriad decisions that needed to be made.

“Kent was certainly knowledgeable, coming up with great ideas through all aspects of the build,” Mitchell says.”

“I asked for his guidance and advice when choosing interior features, and while I had the final say, his choice of flooring, colours and cabinetry were excellent.”

“I know some people would prefer to manage that themselves, but I wanted guidance and I was happy to take his advice – he’s the expert! With his experience he knows what works and what doesn’t.”

Mitchell says the build was finished before deadline, and the whole process not only met but exceeded his expectations.

“I can’t fault Kent’s communication and people skills; he is very easy to deal with, and co-operative,” Mitchell says.”

“I also can’t fault the process and how stress-free it was.”

“And for them to win the Master Builders award on top of that, it’s just the icing on the cake.”

“I’d certainly recommend Modern Builders.”

When Tania and Colin Magee decided to build a new home, attention to detail was always going to be paramount.

“We knew this home was going to be our ‘one and only’,” Tania says.

“We visited a few show homes, but when we entered the Modern Builders show home we were absolutely wowed.”

“The size of the home, the high ceiling, the sheer attention to detail – it was outstanding.”

They based their home off the existing show home plan, whilst adding their own touches including  the incorporation of a media room and floating entrance way stairs.

“We loved the show home but wanted to add our own personal touches,” Tania says.

“I like contemporary, modern design. Kent and the architect listened to what I was looking for, and the design they came back with was absolutely perfect.”

Tania says there was open communication throughout the whole design and building process.

“We were given regular updates and taken through the home frequently,” she says.

“We were given so much say in the process; Kent gave us recommendations but also provided alternative options.”

“I never lost the vision of my dream home.”

Tania says their home, which was finished ahead of schedule and under budget, exceeded their expectations.

“If I won Lotto and had the chance to do it again, I wouldn’t change a single thing; the home is exactly what I wanted,” she says.

“Kent is a professional, top-calibre builder. I cannot speak highly enough of him and his workmanship, and the tradies he works alongside.”

“The whole process was an absolute dream; it was a great journey. It felt like a partnership. Nothing was ever a problem.”
